The reason I got into radio was to make a difference. I'm personally involved with many local organizations, as well as the hundreds we work with through the station. Here are just a few of the groups I spend more time helping:
University of Iowa Children's Hospital, CMN, and Dance Marathon
The ARC of East Central Iowa
Knights of Columbus
Marion Youth Baseball
I enjoy coaching baseball, playing tennis, kickboxing, listening to music, playing board games with my kids, riding rollercoasters and taking long walks on the beach.
My favorite teams that I follow:
· Minnesota Vikings Football
· Nebraska Cornhuskers Football
· Univ of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey
· Linn Mar Lions
· Iowa Hawkeyes
· Minnesota Twins & Cincinnati Reds Baseball
If you have kids in grade school, you've probably made a sack lunch or two for your kids. The school systems usually send out menus that they will be serving over the course of the month. I find that my kids want a cold lunch at least two days a week. After looking at the menus, I can see why. When I was a kid, I wouldn't eat some of those things either. A report came out today that indicated many school systems around the country are dropping the federal healthy lunch program. Why? Becasue students aren't eating it. They found students would rather eat nothing than eat what was being served, and then go the whole day hungry, which is not a good thing. For many kids, lunch is the only structured meal they have. Kids don't want whole grains and veggies, which I might add are more expensive to serve than what they would rather eat..Chicken, pizza, burgers, and tater tots. I personally like what the school's are serving here in the corridor, but I'm not in grade school. Maybe they could offer a drive through take out which is a better deal than fast food for you and I. Just a thought .
